FEWLS congratulates Dacosta Osei for successfully defending his Master's thesis. His research titled "Subcritical CO2-H2O Hydrolysis of Polyethylene Terephthalate as a Sustainable Chemical Recycling Platform" showcased the efficacy of carbonic acid in CO2-H2O mixtures in hydrolyzing Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) into ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid under high pressures and temperatures.
Dacosta Osei became a member of FEWLS in the Summer of 2022 to pursue his masters research under the Dr. Ana Morais mentorship. He will graduate from the University of Kansas in the Spring of 2024 and will be the first student to graduate from FEWLS. As a result of his outstanding research, he has published a scientific paper showcasing his work in the journal RSC Green Chemistry, which was highlighted in the issue front cover (Left).
FEWLS and Dr. Ana Morais would like to wish the best of luck to Dacosta Osei in his professional endeavors.
Thank You For Your Contribution Dacosta!
